MAY: BBQ FOR THE BRAVE. Memorial Day weekend is about more than cookouts and baseball—it’s about honor, sacrifice, and remembrance. Along with Sharkey’s Cuts for Kids-Lexington, we hosted our EIGHTH annual Memorial Day BBQ, selling plates of pulled pork, beans, slaw, and hash. Together, we raised $3,500 for Alston Wilkes, an incredible organization dedicated to helping veterans in transitional housing rebuild their lives with dignity, stability, and hope after experiencing homelessness. Your kindness is more than a gift—it’s a message to our heroes that they are not forgotten. 🇺🇸
FEBRUARY: PERIOD PROJECT. Periods suck. Periods when you can’t afford a tampon and don’t have access to a clean bathroom or a place to shower? Unimaginable — but the reality for some women who can’t afford proper menstruation essentials. This month, we assembled 876 period packets filled with tampons, pads, liners, wipes, and notes of care to be distributed to women – and girls – in need of kindness and a moment of dignity within our community.
JANUARY: SOLE STEPPING. Collected almost 250 pairs of shoes – from cleats to flips and every toe wrangler in-between as well as all sizes from smalls to talls. Sole Stepping then turns those unwanted shoes into credits to fund the purchase of NEW shoes for local elementary school children.
